Mango Wood Information Guide:

Mango wood comes from the fruit tree of the same name. Mango trees can reach as much as 100 feet tall with a trunk of up to 4 feet in diameter.

Mango wood has quite a coarse grain which means it is quite easy to work with especially when finishing the wood. Mango wood is an easy wood to work with and survives the kiln drying process used to turn new logs into workable mango wood.

The use of mango wood has seen a rapid rise in the Thai handicraft sector. Partly as a result of it’s easy workable nature and the acceptance of more sustainable wood production in Thailand. Additionally the implementation of OTOP by the Thai government in the last decade has meant that small local workshops have been encouraged to set up for the design and manufacture of arts and crafts. The use of mango wood has created some truly original and innovative pieces of work from these Thai artists.

Mango wood vases are not designed to hold water directly. They should only be wiped with a slightly damp cloth. Mango Wood vases are designed for dry flower arrangements or as a stand alone ornament in a room.
